Various Ways To Install Lawn Signage

Though yard sign installation is generally not a long process,there are a few important steps to follow to ensure that your sign is mounted properly and easily-visible to the surrounding area. Here is how to install lawn signage in a variety of different ways.

• In a frame– Many yard signs are mounted in a real estate frame. These frames completely-surround the sign and ensure that it is protected from all angles. First,make sure your sign and frame are the same size-custom-sized frames can be quite expensive,so it’s best to choose a standard size,like 12″x24″ or 18″x24″. When you have your two pieces ready to go,gently insert your sign into the back of the frame,with the display side facing outward. Most frames have looped pieces of iron on the backside that hold your signage in place. You may have to gently bend the material to fit it into place-be careful not to bend so much that the material breaks or won’t lay back flat. For added stability,or if your frame does not have these loops,most real estate frames have drill holes on the top and bottom. Gently drill holes in the material and tighten the sign to the frame using a screw and washer. Finally,once the frame is ready for mounting in the ground,firmly insert each pointed end into the ground. Use a mallet or hammer to drive the frame as far as possible into the ground,ensuring it’s stability.

• To a stake– Stakes are another popular way to display lawn signage. Wire stakes are used for corrugated plastic or poster board signs. They gently slide into the bottom of the material,going through the flutes on corrugated plastic or into the middle of the poster board. Then,slowly insert the other end of the wire stakes into the ground until the horizontal step bar has reached the ground. If you’re using a step-in or t-bar stake,these require a bit more work. Keep in mind that these will only work for 1-sided signage since the stake will be on the back side. Hold your sign over the stake and mark the areas where holes will need to be drilled (the stake should be pre-drilled). Attach your sign to the stake with screws and washers,and then use the foot push to press the stake into the ground.

• To a sign board– Sign boards,sometimes called a-frames,are a great way to display yard signs. There are many different ways to attach signage to them. If you want your message on the a-frame permanently,you can screw it into the frame along the edges,or use a strong,permanent adhesive (you can even order vinyl decals to apply directly to the frame). For temporary,removable signage,use Velcro or double-sided tape. After applying the signs,gently open the frame and display it in front of your store. If needed,add sand to the bottom of the frame as ballast to keep it from blowing over.

• To a wall or fence– Some customers want to display their yard signs on the side of a building or attached to a fence. This is a popular choice for business identification as well as for tradesman and construction sites. For the wall,you’ll want to use any sort of nail or screw that will stay secure in the material from which your wall is constructed. Apply these to the corners of your signage-you can also use a strong tape or Velcro,but only if your piece is temporary. For a fence,consider having your printing company add grommets to the corners of your sign (corrugated plastic only). Attach your signage using zip-ties that are strung through the grommets and then cinched to the fence.
